“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – MALCOLM X

Walking in the Footsteps of Legacy

Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz understood that education is the cornerstone of liberation. Dr. Betty Shabazz earned her doctorate in Education Administration and dedicated much of her life to empowering youth and championing education. Dr. Betty Shabazz was a strong proponent of education and often remarked to her daughter (and our Chairperson) Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, “Ilyasah, just as one must drink water; one must give back.” Joining the Shabazz Center as an intern allows you to continue her most gracious work of giving back to the community.
